Amsterdam Day 1

Monday morning the 22nd Uri and took off on separate trains for Amsterdam. He wasn't able get a reservation on the train I was leaving on so he followed two hours afterward. In the between two hours I was able to explore the streets a bit and get oriented with the city.
I met him at the platform and we met a girl there from the Carribean with passable English who was on her way to a Jason Mraz concert. So we spent the afternoon with her wandering the streets until concert time. The concert was very fun and there were beer vendors with "ghostbuster-like" beer kegs attached to their backs. They cruised the audience in search of thirsty (who wasn't?) spectators.
After the show Uri got on a train to Leiden where a UCI friend Erika is studying abroad. As it was 2:30am when we arrived there were no more busses running to take us the last leg to Erika's apartment. So Uri and I set out on foot, got horribly lost and past the night on a spongy children's basketball court only to be awakened at 6:30am by light rain. In the early morning mist we were able to orient ourselves and navigate the way to Erika's. Sleep was easy.
