They let me keep the X-Ray!
On Thursday the 23rd I left early from work in order to continue the long process of obtaining my "Carte de Sejour," the French residency card. I had received a piece of paper at one of my schools informing me that it was necessary to have a medical exam before completing the next step of the process. I followed the directions to the Department of Immigration services and handed my appointment confirmation sheet to the receptionist. I was ushered into a room to wait with about 15 other immigrants. Most of them, based on dress alone, looked as though they came from North Africa/Middle Eastern countries of the Muslim persuasion, I was the sole Caucasian. I was pestered with questions about immunization, tuberculosis, more tuberculosis, and again about tuberculosis, measured, weighed, had my eyes tested, blood pressure checked, and a chest X-Ray taken, just to make sure I didn't have tuberculosis. In the end they told me, "You have no problems," and shooed me out with "healthy" papers.
