Ben, Scott, and Myself enjoying Life

Scott showing us his knife skills
I shared a room in the Villa Hostel in Nice with two wonderful Aussies, Scott and Emma, who mentioned that they would be arriving in Paris just a week later. As a fellow traveler I offered them a place to stay, I know how nice it is to be able to have a free, quiet spot to relax instead of a noisy smelly hostel. I'm glad I offered because they were a blast to have as guests! They would spend the days walking around Paris together and at night we went to several bars, including a very fun karaoke bar on Rue Mouffetard. Getting to know other travelers, especially from a far corner of the world is tons of fun. I was sad to see them go after a long weekend. To say "thank you" they took me to a nice French restaurant where I ordered Escargot and Cuisses de Grenouille, Snails and Frog legs. I was surprised at how much I liked the Escargot. The texture is unique, similar to calamari, but with its own special flair. They were smothered in butter and garlic, which makes most anything taste lovely. I wonder how they taste without the sauce? No thanks. The Grenouille was simple, it does remind one of chicken, but again, it is unique. Dessert was a heavenly chocolate mousse. During the appetizer Emma was commenting on how impressed she was that us boys were acting civilized. Right on cue the pate slipped off my bread right onto the candle in the middle of the table, putting it out with a sizzle. The waiter who came to relight the flame didn't share Emma's point of view.
