After sunset we shopped for dinner ingredients at Carrefour. Pasta, salad, wine and cake were on the menu. A few of the Erasmus ladies cooked for us this night. The group was a huge mix of nationalities: Mexican, Belgian, Italian, French, Swedish, and me, American. I was amazed and excited at the smorgasbord of different cultures all spending an evening and sharing a meal together. Communicating was no problem, Spanish, English and French were most common, and we shared some great stories.
Rooftops in Cadiz
When I look to the west...
Old man and golden domes of the Cadiz Cathedral
Castle in the Sea
Not as spectacular as the day before, but very peaceful
Yes, they have wine juiceboxes in Spain
Between the entree and the main course we went to the central square in Cadiz to watch a concert. It was more of the all male singing groups, wailing away comical ditties at the top of their lungs. When the concert finished a large effigy of a man was burned. No one that I asked knew the significance of this. He looked like Santa Claus, dressed in red with a huge white beard. They burned him. Not sure why, but he went up fast. Interesting....
Dinner was excellent, pasta cooked by a beautiful Italian girl, how could it not be? We ventured out into the streets again, bottle of wine in hand. The atmosphere was just the same as the night before but our group was much more tame overall. We packed it in by 2:30am. Just another day in paradise, surrounded by wonderful people, weather, and scenery.
Weirdest concert I've been to in my life
Burning man?!
The singing men
Oh carnival, I don't think I will miss you all that much
