The Port of Cannes
Old Town Cannes
My seat at the Theater of Life, I got some great relaxing/thinking done here
I got douched by the Ocean on the boat ride to the Ile Saint Marguerite
Looking back towards Cannes
My Island
WWII Bunker on the Ile
The clouds opened up and showed me a glimpse of the Alps while I was standing on an Island in the Mediterranean. A pretty cool experience.
The prison where the Man in the Iron Mask was held
I day tripped to Cannes where I wandered around the city, visited their castle up on a hill, sat in a random blue chair on the breakwater and watched the sea, and then caught a ferry out to Ile St. Marguerite, about 20 minutes offshore from Cannes. There were only 5 other people on the ferry ride over and the island itself was almost completely empty. I spent the next three hours exploring the island, I walked the entire perimeter and a bit of the rest. I made it to the old Prison Museum a half hour before they close and was turned away because they were closing in "5 minutes." I looked at my watch, gave the man a look, and inquired whether he could tell time properly. He didn't appreciate this and told me to leave. I told him, "Merci beaucoup, tu est tres gentil" (I used the familiar which is rude towards anybody you don't know) in a very sarcastic voice. Back at the Hostel I met with with the girl from New Zealand and we watched the first bit of the election. I stayed up until about 4am and there was still no real news coming in so I headed to bed.
