A Nice Sunset over Nice Beach
I had planned on going to Monaco very early on this day but when I woke up it was raining and rather unpleasant traveling weather. So I went back to sleep (traveling solo is wonderful!) When I woke up again the clouds had finished crying and I set out on foot to explore more of Nice. I visited the Matisse Museum (I wasn't impressed, I can also cut circles out of construction paper), A Franciscan Monastery with a beautiful cemetery (including Matisse's grave), and ruins of a Roman city. I'm not sure why but I really enjoyed the cemetery. It was quiet and peaceful and I felt at ease, letting my thoughts go silent and enjoying the moment for nothing else but the present. I also found the Roman ruins very cool, being able to see physical evidence of past cultures is terrific, it gives you perspective on how long humans have been here on earth, and how we are another chapter in a very long book. Down to the beach again for sunset, back to the Hostel where I made two very good friends, both solo travelers like me, one from New Zealand the other from California. We spent the night drinking wine, sharing stories, and drawing funny pictures in the Kiwi's journal.
